Where do I begin? Resources for Newbie Preppers

I became convicted that I should start preparing my family for … something… last year. Here’s a list of the resources I’ve found to be the most useful.
You’ll soon find out (if you haven’t already) that the Mormons have basically written the book on food storage and preparedness. Many of my resources are written from that perspective, but I have not had a problem using them as an Evangelical Christian. Of course if you are reading this and you are Mormon, that won’t be a problem for you! ;)

I. Retailers I have used and trust:
Emergency Essentials http://www.beprepared.com

II. Helpful Online Resources:
http://lds.about.com/library/bl/faq/blcalculator.htm (Food Storage Calculator - VERY useful.)
http://www.americanpreppersnetwork.com/ (Connect with other preppers)

III. Blogs – Mom/Food Storage Oriented:
http://foodstoragemadeeasy.net/   (I taught myself about food storage using the material on this site. Their Three Month Supply and Long Term Supply spreadsheets are extremely helpful.)
http://everydayfoodstorage.net/ (Great ways to use your food storage in everyday cooking.)
http://thesurvivalmom.com/  (Another great site.)

IV. Blogs – Survival Oriented:
http://www.survivalblog.com/  The granddaddy of all survival blogs. It completely intimidated me when I was first getting into preparedness because it seemed so radical, but you can’t argue with the value of the information you’ll find here.

V. Blogs – Other: (Preparedness, political, and/or homesteading related)

VI. Books:
Just in Case: How to be Self-Sufficient When the Unexpected Happens by Kathy Harrison
Emergency Food Storage and Survival Handbook by Peggy Layton
How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It by James Wesley Rawles
The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery

I have many, many more book recommendations I could give you on more specialized topics if you are interested.  (Gardening, food storage, animal husbandry, etc.)
